Permission for female constable to undergo gender reassignment in MP

Bhopal: In Madhya Pradesh, women police constables have been allowed by the state Home Department to undergo gender reassignment and become men, a senior official said.

Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department Dr. Rajesh Rajora claimed that this was the first case in Madhya Pradesh where a government department had allowed a woman to become a man.

After this he will be able to work just like any other male constable. Well-known psychologists have also confirmed that she has had gender identity disorder since childhood. The Home Department has approved the state's Director General of Police (DGP) to allow a female constable to undergo gender reassignment, as she has had a gender identity disorder since childhood.

The woman police constable had in 2014 sent such an application to the police headquarters with an affidavit. He also stated his intention in the Government Gazette. The police headquarters forwarded his application to the state Home Department for approval. As a rule, an Indian citizen has the right to choose his own caste, caste and religion. Based on this, the state Home Department has directed the police headquarters to allow female constables to undergo gender reassignment, the official said.
