A ray of hope for the world: Omicron transition in South Africa under control in 50 days, now cases are declining

While the rest of the world, including India, is worried about the new variant of the Corona Omicron, the declining Omicron case in South Africa has given the world a glimmer of hope.

The Omicron variant was the first to be released in South Africa. However, the country has overcome the Omicron in just 50 days. There has been no increase in the death toll. South Africa has also lifted the night curfew and other restrictions. .

The first case of Omicron was reported in South Africa in the first week of November. The transition spread rapidly after that.

However, since the transition was at its peak for the first four weeks, there has been no increase in cases in the last two weeks. And the number of hospitalized patients has also dwindled.

    The variant of interest is those variants due to which significant community transmission of covid-19 can be seen. Or it may even affect the transmissibility or the severity of the virus. These variants may be potentially problematic. Currently, there are 2 variants of interest according to the WHO.
