There are many opportunities for India's cooperation on the peacekeeping force: UN officials

- There are two messages for India: one is 'thank you', the other is we still have high hopes for you

UN: UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, ahead of next month's conference of UN peacekeepers in the South Korean capital, Seoul. Jean-Pierre Lacroix said: "They have two messages for India, one of the largest contributors to the UN peacekeeping force: one is to thank India because India is one of the biggest contributors to us in this area. In fact, it is supporting us (UNO) in every field. India has always been with us, be it in the political arena, efficiency enhancement or any other sector commitment.

"I also remember the sacrifices made by those Indian soldiers who joined the UN peacekeeping force," Lacroix told reporters in a recent interview with UNO. Who have made their sacrifices during the UN peacekeeping operations.

My second message to India is that we still have high hopes for you. You have the power that we need and that is why we hope you have it.

The head of the UN peacekeeping force further said that India also has the capacity to assist us. He has qualified peacekeepers. It is likely to do well in the UN peacekeeping force and in the UN police force as well. And its women police or women soldiers in both these areas can also be helpful.

"We hope that India will send its peacekeeping force along with its senior officers, especially senior women officers," Lacroix made it clear at the press conference.

He further said that India also has computational technology which could be helpful to the UN peacekeeping force.

He further added that the UN peacekeeping force personnel are called blue-berets or blue-helmets. Because they wear brown berets or brown helmets. India contributes a lot to this force. India is the third largest troop contributor to the peace process. As of September this year, a total of 17 UN peace missions have been conducted. India is the third largest troop contributor with 9,51 troops.
