Seven coaches of a train from Kannur to Bengaluru crashed in Tamil Nadu


BENGALURU: Seven coaches of a Bengaluru-bound train derailed near Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu. According to the Southern Railway, the incident was caused by stones falling on the train. More than 2,000 passengers were safe and no one was injured.

According to sources, the Kannur-Bengaluru Express left Kannur in Kerala at 6.05 pm on Thursday. According to the official statement issued by the Railways, at 3.50 am, train no. 07390 Seven coaches of Kannur-Bengaluru Express derailed. According to railway sources, all the 2348 passengers aboard the train are safe.

No one was killed or injured. As soon as the incident was reported, a team of officials including Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Bengaluru Shyam Singh and doctors rushed to the spot.

Accident Relief Train (ART) and medical equipment van also reached the spot with them. According to Anish Hegde, chief public relations officer, South Western Railway, senior officials are keeping a close watch on the incident. Buses were arranged to transport the passengers to Bengaluru.
