New Delhi: Farmers have been protesting on the borders of Delhi for almost a year in protest of three central government agricultural laws. Farmers say more than 600 farmers and activists involved in the agitation have lost their lives so far. Another farmer has lost his life at the Tikri border in Delhi.

Mohinder Singh, a 65-year-old Punjab farmer involved in the agitation against the agricultural law, was killed on the Tikri border in Delhi. Although the exact cause of his death has not been determined, there are reports that he lost his life due to a heart attack. Mohinder Singh was a farm laborer and he was not married.

The number of farmers who have lost their lives so far along the Delhi border has crossed 600, the organizations said. Most of the farmers who lost their lives during the agitation have short land holdings. Ruldu Singh, 68, brother of the deceased farmer, said: "We had only 2.5 acres of land but we sold it at the time of my sister's marriage."

On the other hand, a survey conducted by two economists at Punjabi Uni, Patiala, found that about 600 farmers had died during the agitation and most of them had very little, only two to three acres of land. The study was conducted considering 460 farmers out of 600 who died.
