In the year 2020, more traders committed suicide than farmers in Corona

The extent to which the Corona virus epidemic has wreaked havoc can be gauged from the fact that the number of businessmen committing suicide in 2020 is higher than that of farmers compared to 2015.

In 2020, a year of economic crisis due to the epidemic has seen a 20 per cent increase in suicides among traders and businessmen. In the year 2020, the number of businessmen committing suicide is higher than that of farmers, the NCB report said.

According to the latest figures from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCB), 11,619 businessmen committed suicide in the year 2020, compared to 104 farmers in a single year.

Among the more than 11,412 businessmen who committed suicide, 4 were traders and 4 were vendors. Other businessmen who have committed suicide have been placed in another category.

In 2016, 206 traders committed suicide, which increased to 9 in 2020. In other words, the number of traders committing suicide has increased by 3% in 2020 as compared to 2016.

Meanwhile, the total suicide rate in the country has increased by 10 per cent to 1,8,08. Which is by far the highest proportion. Traditionally, traders have a lower suicide rate than farmers. However, in the year 2020, traders were under stress due to the Koro epidemic.
