Gorakhpur: 4 people charged with treason for hoisting Pakistani flag, angry people pelted stones

A case of treason has been registered against four persons named Talim, Pappu, Aashiq and Arif for allegedly hoisting the Pakistani flag on the roof of a house in Niralanagar, Ward No. 10, Mundera Bazar, Chaurichaura Nagar Panchayat, Gorakhpur district. Police have taken one accused into custody in the case. Police have stepped up security in the area following the riots. According to the family members of the accused, the flag was religious and the issue is being raised without any reason.

According to a complaint lodged by Pandit Kalyan Pandey, National President of the Brahmin Welfare Council, Talib, a resident of Ward No. 10 in Chaurichaura area, hoisted the Pakistani flag on the roof of his house. Someone took a photo of him and made it viral on social media.

Seeing the viral photo, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Amit Verma, all BJP leaders and activists including RSS's Virendra reached out. Apart from that, the people around also gathered and started chanting slogans. The glass of a vehicle was also smashed by throwing stones. Seeing the fury of the crowd, the Taliban lowered the flag from the roof of the house.
