Delhi: OPD will be closed in many hospitals today, doctors demand early start of NEET PG counseling


- Center decides to reconsider annual income limit of Rs 8 lakh for EWS category

Due to repeated delays in organizing Knit PG 2021 counseling, all doctors' unions have declared a strike. The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has called for a nationwide strike from Saturday, November 27. According to a FORDA statement, the association has asked resident doctors across the country to stay away from OPD services from Saturday.

The Resident Doctors Association in the capital Delhi has also announced a strike from Saturday. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RML), Lady Harding Hospital and VMMC have also announced closure of OPD in Delhi.

FAIMA, FORDA and the IMA JDN Doctors' Association have called for a nationwide strike by doctors across the country in protest of the ongoing delay in Knit PG 2021 counseling. Doctors across the country are now joining the strike.

The Resident Doctors Association of Maulana Azad Medical College has also decided to join the strike. According to the MAMC RDA, resident doctors will gather in front of the MD's office on November 27 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am to symbolically show solidarity.

What is the case?

The Doctors Association is protesting the ongoing delay in Knit PG counseling. According to FORDA, they are awaiting a positive outcome from the Supreme Court in this case. In fact, the Supreme Court is hearing petitions against the instructions of the Center and the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC), which provides 27% reservation for OBCs and 10% for EWS category in the NEET examination.

The Center told the apex court on November 25 that it had decided to reconsider the annual income limit of Rs 8 lakh for the EWS category. The center avoided knit counseling for 4 weeks.
