Bus-truck collision in Barmer, Rajasthan: 12 killed, 32 injured

Jaipur: At least 19 people were killed and eight others injured in a road accident in Rajasthan's Barmer district on Wednesday. According to Barmer District Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhargava, a collision between a bus and a truck near Bhandiawas village on the Barmer-Jodhpur National Highway caused both vehicles to catch fire, killing 19 people and injuring six others.

According to Bhargava, the bodies of ten people were found at the spot. When one person died during treatment at the hospital. Seriously injured people have been rushed to a hospital in Jodhpur.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot lamented the incident and said that he had spoken to the district officer of Barmer on the phone about the tragedy. Relief and rescue work has been directed to the district administration. The injured have been told to ensure the best possible treatment.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the tragedy. Madi has announced Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the families of the injured.
