Kabul: Pakistan's pet terrorist organization Haqqani Network has suffered a major setback after the Taliban regime came to power in Afghanistan. Sirajuddin Haqqani, the head of the Haqqani network who became interior minister in the Taliban government, has been killed in an attack on Hamdullah Mukhlis, a key military strategist and commander in Kabul.

At least six people have been killed so far in two bomb blasts and shootings in Kabul on Tuesday. Hamdullah was reportedly a commander in the Taliban's Special Forces Badri Brigade. The same brigade was assigned to provide security in Kabul.

The death of the Taliban commander has dealt a major blow to the Haqqani network. Hamdullah has previously served as the Taliban's shadow governor in Paktika and Khosht provinces.

No terrorist group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but there are reports that it may have been carried out by ISIS terrorists. Bilal Sarkari, a well-known journalist in Afghanistan, tweeted that ISIS terrorists have now succeeded in killing their first most important target. Hamdullah is considered the most charismatic leader of the Taliban. The Taliban have also been shaken.
