10% increase in number of students going to tuition after corona

The number of school going children enrolling in private tuition has increased by ten per cent as compared to 2012, according to the Annual States of Education Report (ASER), 2021.

According to the report, there has been a 10 per cent drop in children's learning aids compared to last year. At the national level, in 2012, less than 90% of children went to private tuition classes. In 2021, this proportion has increased to 50%. This proportion has increased in both boys and girls, in all standards and in all types of schools. All the states except Kerala have seen an increase in the number of children attending tuition classes.

The 18th edition of the Annual States of Education Report (ASER) was released today. The rate of attendance in tuition classes among children whose parents have higher education has increased by 4.5 per cent. While the number of children whose parents are less educated has increased by 12.5 per cent in the number of children attending tuition classes.

According to the report, at the time the survey was conducted, it was common for students whose schools were closed to attend tuition classes. Students attending higher classes were more likely to attend tuition than lower classes.

The report was prepared on the basis of a survey conducted in three states and three union territories. The survey covered 4.5 students between the ages of five and 12. The report covered 6 schools. Out of which 3 schools were running while 3 schools were closed due to Korona epidemic.

According to the report, out of the out-of-school children, 4.5 per cent were helped by their parents at home. At home, parents helped 40.5 percent of the children who went to school.
