Ta. On June 9, Pervez Ahmed was returning to his residence after praying at the mosque when he was shot dead by militants.

It may be mentioned that on August 4, 2016, Article 30 relating to Jammu and Kashmir has been removed and the state was divided into Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as well as two divisions.

Strict security arrangements were put in place across the state before Shah's visit.

More security forces have been deployed in Srinagar and across the valley as non-Muslims are being targeted in the state.
