The defense sector needs more confidence and transparency than ever before: Modi

- Inauguration ceremony of seven state-owned defense equipment factories by the Prime Minister in place of the Ordinance Factory Board

For the first time since independence, India is undergoing major changes in the field of defense. It has more transparency and confidence than ever before. This was stated by Prime Minister Modi today (17th) after the inauguration ceremony of a new state-owned equipment manufacturing factory. He said the complexes would replace the Ordnance Factory Board. This will make India an important arms manufacturer. Because of these changes, the policies that have become stagnant will be removed and dynamic policies will take their place.

With this, the Prime Minister said that India's goal under the self-reliance drive is to make itself the strongest military power in the world. And he also stands on his own two feet. That is why it is essential to have a modern military (arms manufacturing) industry in India.

He further said, "India has been carrying out the 'Make in India' campaign for the last three years to achieve this goal.

"India is entering the ninth year of its independence," the Prime Minister said in a video message on the occasion. Projects that have been falling apart for years are being completed. Today more transparency is emerging in the field of confidence and technology based defense. Which had never been seen before. For the first time since independence, so many important changes are taking place in the field of defense. And a 'single window system' has been implemented to replace the frozen defense policies. '

Immediately after independence, ordinance factories needed to be upgraded and modern technology adopted, but no one paid much attention to it.

He further said that '21 Ordinance Factories have been converted into 6 corporate entities. This step has been taken only for self-reliance and defense preparation. This was stated by Modi in a video message.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and representatives of the Defense Industry Association were also present on the occasion.

The government has turned the 200-year-old Ordnance Factory Board into three different complete units. So that the company's defense preparations become stronger and the country becomes self-sufficient in the field of defense.

The new defense companies that have been formed are Munitions India Limited (MIL) Armed Vehicles Corporation Ltd. (AVANI) Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Ltd. (AWEIndia) Troop Comforts Ltd. (TCL) Yantra India (YIL) India Optel Ltd. (IOL) and Gliders India Limited (GIL), ”the Prime Minister said.
