Three people, including Kashmiri Pandit Makhanlal Bindaru, owner of a very famous pharmacy store in Srinagar, were shot dead by militants here today and in separate incidents in Bandipora district.

Makhanlal, a 6-year-old owner of Bindru Medical Store here, was shot dead by some unidentified gunmen at Point Blank Range while he was sitting in his store, police said. Although Makhanlal was rushed to the hospital, his life was cut short on the way.

It may be recalled that Makhanlal was adamant even when thousands of Kashmiri Pandits left their hometown of Srinagar in 1902 to protect their women's dignity from the terrorists when terrorism was at its peak in the whole of Kashmir and especially in the valley of Srinagar. Chose to stay. He lived with his wife in Srinagar and grew his drug business very well and his store in Srinagar was very reputable and reliable.

Within an hour of Makhanlal's assassination, a group of terrorists shot dead a foreign hawker selling bhelpuri on the road in the city's Hawal area. The hawker was also shot from the Point Blank range so he could not escape. The hawker was also taken to hospital but was pronounced dead by doctors.

Police are still awaiting further details of the killings, but paramilitary personnel cordoned off the area where the killings took place and launched an intensive investigation into the culprits. Within minutes of the second killing, the militants also shot dead a local resident, Mohammad Shafi Lone, in the Naidkai area of ​​Bandipora district. The deceased Lone was the president of the taxi stand, locals said.
