Team India's flop show: PAK for the first time in World Cup history. Defeat against

Fans were further disappointed when Pakistan crossed the 152-run target without a wicket

DUBAI: Pakistan today erased the stigma of not winning a single match in the T20 World Cup by defeating India by a humiliating 10 wickets.

India scored 151 for 7 in their 20 overs. India have won all five of these previous matches in the history of the T20 World Cup. Similarly, Pakistan has not won against India in the ODI World Cup. This is India's first defeat against Pakistan in this World Cup.

Cricket fans were outraged to see the flop show of India's millionaire cricket stars in the IPL. Earlier in the match, India were considered favorites to win. Shaheen Afridi was declared Player of the Match for taking three wickets of Rohit Sharma, Rahul and Kohli.

Fans would have accepted that India lost, but there was more resentment than the way they lost, especially by 10 wickets. India have lost the first match of their T20 history by 10 wickets. From Pakistan, opener Rizwan was unbeaten on 79 and captain Babar Azam was unbeaten on 68. Shami gave up 43 runs in 3.5 overs.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to field. Batting first on the same ground as West Indies were bowled out for 55 yesterday, Pakistan captain Babar Azam may have expected the batting to be difficult for the first-batted team.

Even though he gave away 17 runs in the 19th and final over of Shaheen Afridi's innings, India remained deprived of the dominant score in the first and third overs of his innings. Rahul's (3) wicket was fast.

Rohit Sharma was leg before the first ball he played. IPL star Suryakumar Yadav also did not find a gap in the pitch and he too was dismissed for 11 as India lost 3 wickets for 31 runs in 5.4 overs.

If Kohli had scored 57 off 49 balls with five fours and one six and Pant had scored 39 off 30 balls with two fours and two sixes, India's score would have been barely 120 runs. The two had a 53-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Afridi's last innings and five runs, including an over throw in the 19th over of the innings, combined for 17 runs to give India a somewhat respectable score. Afridi, however, was quick to take Kohli's precious wicket even in that costly over.

Pakistan bowlers took wickets at regular intervals. Pant's wicket was the most valuable. Hasan Ali proved costly with 44 runs in 4 overs. He was two wickets quick though. Spinner Shadab Khan took 1 wicket for 22 runs in 4 overs and Rauf gave 25 runs in 4 overs.

India scored 54 runs in the last five overs. India's 100 runs were taken for 4 wickets in 15 overs. Pakistan's opener wicketkeeper-batsman Rizwan and captain Babar Azam laid the groundwork for a positive and 152 challenge, much less than they expected.
