New delhi date. 3

Tihar Jail officials, who have been collaborating with Unitech promoters Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra, are having a hard time. The Supreme Court has ordered the suspension of officials named in the Tihar Jail in a report by Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana.

The action has been taken against Tihar jail officials for helping Unitech promoters run their affairs from jail. The Supreme Court is angry with former Unitech promoters Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra. In the last hearing, the apex court had directed the immediate transfer of Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra from Tihar Jail to Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail and Taloja Central Jail.

The court expressed displeasure that contempt of law would not be tolerated under any circumstances. The Delhi Police Commissioner was tasked with investigating the involvement of Tihar Jail officials in the case.

The apex court said that Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra would not be given any additional facility in the jail. In fact, the ED had filed two state reports on April 5 and August 15. In a state report dated August 15, 2021, the ED said that the prison premises were used for illegal activities.

Tihar Jail was also used to impress witnesses. The involvement of Tihar jail officials was also exposed. The apex court further said that the two brothers should be transferred immediately and the two should be kept separate.

The court has expressed displeasure against Tihar jail authorities for violating the jail manual, obstructing proceedings and obstructing the investigation, along with Unitech directors Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra.

A bench comprising Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice MR Shah has lashed out at the Delhi Police for not taking any action even after ten days of the ED director's letter, leveling some allegations against the jailors.
