Supreme Court issues notice to Center on land change in Central Vista project

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has sought a reply from the Center on the issue of converting the Central Vista project amusement park into a residential area. The apex court has directed to file the reply within the stipulated time. A further hearing in the case will now be held on Friday. The Central Vista project taking shape in Delhi was announced in September 2019.

In which the new Parliament building will be prepared. Arrangements will be made to seat 900 to 1200 MPs. Construction of the new building is targeted to be completed by August 2022. The country will be celebrating the 75th Independence Day at that time. The decision to change the land has been challenged in the Supreme Court.

Counsel on behalf of the petitioner claimed that there was nothing like public interest in the land being exchanged for residential. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who was present on behalf of the government, was later directed by the apex court to file his affidavit. The new residences of the Vice President and the Prime Minister are being prepared on the land which has been changed.
