Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has written a letter to the chief ministers of 11 non-BJP states and Goa appealing for their cooperation in opposing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Stalin also asked his party MPs to explain the issue to the chief ministers of other states.

Stalin said in a letter to state chief ministers that the central government's decision to grant admission to medical colleges through NEET was against the spirit of federalism and violated the constitutional balance of power. This decision of the Central Government deprives the State Government of the right to decide how to grant admission in the medical colleges established and run by it.

Stalin wrote the letter to the chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Jharkhand, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Telangana, West Bengal and Goa.

Meanwhile, the apex court has rejected an application seeking cancellation of the Nit exam held on September 19, 2021. The petition claimed that the examination should be canceled as it was not conducted in a proper and transparent manner.

A bench headed by Justice L Nageshwar Rao dismissed the petition. The petition claimed that the CBI had lodged three FIRs for irregularities in the examination. The petition claimed that the paper of Nit's exam taken on September 15, 2021 was leaked on WhatsApp.
