Shivkumar paid Rs. 500 crore bribe video goes viral in Karnataka Congress

BENGALURU: The Karnataka Congress was rocked by an earthquake on Wednesday which left the party in a dire predicament. A video has gone viral on social media in which Congress media co-ordinator MA Salim and former Lok Sabha MP and current party spokesperson V.S. a. Ugarappa can be heard talking to each other and in their conversation Karnataka Pradesh Congress President D. That. Shivkumar can be heard talking about being involved in a massive scam when he was a minister in the state. Shivkumar was briefly accused by his own party leaders of taking bribes. The video of these leaders talking has now become a source of embarrassment for the Congress. In the conversation of this video, both the leaders can be heard saying that Shivkumar is taking a big lant. During their conversation, the leaders also told Shivkumar that he was drunk. In the video, these nuns can be heard saying that Shivkumar's accomplice committed bribery and scam for Rs. 100 crore. These leaders demanded Rs. He was also talking about taking a bribe of Rs 100 crore. The BJP was in a frenzy when a video exposing the actions of Congress leaders went viral. And BJP IT cell president Amit Malviya also posted the video of the Congress leaders on his Twitter handle. In the video, the former Congress MP and media co-ordinator could be heard saying to each other that when Shivkumar was the irrigation minister, he was collecting 15 to 20 per cent from the commission contractors.

Strongly objecting to the video, Shivkumar said, "I do not deny that the conversation took place, but the issue being discussed in that conversation is totally false and baseless." Taking immediate action after the incident, the Congress removed Salim from the party membership for six years and party spokesperson Ugarappa was hit with a reasoned notice and asked to clarify the conversation within three days.

In Karnataka, when the Janata Dal (S) -Congress coalition government was in power, Shivkumar was the Irrigation Minister and at that time there was a massive scam in the state's irrigation department in which Shivkumar was said to be deeply involved.
