New Delhi: India's defense ministry has signed an agreement with the US government to buy weapons, including MK54 torpedoes.
According to a Defense Ministry spokesperson, the weapons will be procured for the Indian Navy's anti-submarine warfare aircraft P-81 at a cost of Rs 423 crore. The Indian Navy has a total of 11 P-81 aircraft. The aircraft was designed by the American aerospace company Boeing.
A defense ministry spokesman said on Twitter that the defense ministry had reached an agreement with the US government to buy weapons for the Indian Navy at a cost of Rs 423 crore, including MK54 torpedoes. A torpedo is a weapon used to blow a ship out of the water or into the air.
