New Delhi: Eight people were killed when a BJP leader rammed a car into farmers in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Khiri area. The Punjab and Chhattisgarh governments will provide Rs 50 lakh to the families of the slain farmers. While Priyanka Gandhi, on the other hand, was released from detention, so she went back to Lakhimpur Khiri and visited the family of the farmer.

Earlier, the Yogi government had announced assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the farmers' families. Now the Congress-ruled Punjab and Chhattisgarh governments have also announced assistance of Rs 50 lakh. The Punjab chief minister said the aid would be given to the slain farmers and the family of the journalist. CM Bhupesh Baghel also said that Puru Bharat stands with the families of the affected farmers. Rs 50 lakh will be given to the affected farmers and the family of the journalist. The eight people killed included four farmers and a journalist, while three BJP workers.

Priyanka Gandhi, on the other hand, was detained by the police when she went to Lakhimpur Khiri. She was detained at the Congress Circuit House in Sitapur for two days. However, due to heavy pressure and protests, he was eventually released. As soon as she was released, Priyanka Gandhi accompanied Rahul Gandhi to Lakhimpur to meet the family of Khiri farmers. He was accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channy and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Striking the Center, Rahul said that the country is not a democracy but a dictatorship. Farmers are being targeted in a very planned manner. Narendra Modi came to Lucknow but did not come to meet the farmers of Lakhimpur.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will take note of the incident of a car being driven over farmers in Lakhimpur Khiri by Suomoto. A bench of Supreme Court Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli will hear the case on Thursday. A video has surfaced in which farmers are the first to be hit by a car. The cars are later set on fire. This video may also be noted by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court may order stern action against the accused who drove the car. No arrests have been made in the entire case so an order can be issued.
