Petrol-diesel prices rise for fourth day in a row

Petrol and diesel prices were hiked for the fourth day in a row today. Today, the price of a liter of petrol was again hiked by 20 paise and the price of a liter of diesel by 3 paise.

According to the price notification issued by the country's state-owned oil marketing companies, the price of a liter of petrol in Delhi has gone up by Rs 103.5 and a liter of diesel by Rs 5 to Rs 15. In Mumbai, the price of a liter of petrol has gone up to Rs 102.5 and a liter of diesel to Rs 7.5.

Petrol and diesel prices vary from state to state as VAT rates vary from state to state. In the last three days, the price of a liter of petrol has been increased by 20 paise and the price of a liter of diesel by 3 paise. Which is considered to be the biggest rally ever.

The price of crude oil in the international market has gone up to over ૮૨ 3 as OPEC countries have not increased crude production. The country's state-owned oil marketing companies had started raising diesel prices from September 4 and petrol from September 4. Diesel prices have been hiked by Rs 2.50 per liter since September 4 and petrol prices by Rs 7.5 per liter since September 4.

It may be mentioned here that from May 4 to July 15, petrol price was hiked by Rs 11.5 per liter and diesel by Rs 2.15 per liter.

Meanwhile, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, in response to a question on rising petrol and diesel prices, said, "We have raised concerns in the past and the central government needs to take a decision on this issue."
