Hurricane Shaheen weakens to Oman: death toll rises to 13


Indian Meteorological Department forecasts hurricane calming down

At least 122 people have been injured and taken to hospital in several Iranian cities.

DUBAI: The death toll from Shaheen Wazado has risen to 13 by Monday while some Iranian fishermen who went fishing at sea are still missing but their number is not known. Meanwhile, the hurricane weakened to Oman.

Earlier on Sunday, Ali Nekzad, deputy speaker of Iran's parliament, said he feared the hurricane had killed six fishermen.

The Indian Meteorological Department had forecast that the speed of Hurricane Shaheen has now come down to 90 kmph and still as it slows down, the hurricane will weaken and eventually calm down.
