Global rules are not written by any one country: Xi Jinping

We respect the Constitution of the United Nations and its judicial authority

Chinese leader indirectly targets US: Chinese foreign minister to meet Taliban in Doha, Qatar

BEIJING: Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Monday that the observance of international law enforced by the United Nations should be made by all countries of the world without any discrimination and global rules can never be written by any one country.

By making this wise statement, the Chinese leader indirectly targeted America, his arch-rival. In another development, representatives of the Chechen government are meeting face-to-face with Taliban representatives in Doha, the capital of Qatar, and plan to hold talks with them.

Addressing a conference marking the 50th anniversary of China's accession to the United Nations Security Council as a permanent member, Xi Jinping said, "We respect the authority and the rule of law of the United Nations."

Five permanent members of the UN have been given veto power. Every country in the world should respect the authority and judicial authority of the United Nations, as the basic norms and laws of international relations are determined by the principles and objectives set forth in the UN Constitution, he said.

In an implicit attack on the United States and its allies, the Chinese leader said that international law should be made by the 193 member states of the United Nations, a decision that cannot be made by any one nation or group of nations.

Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi was scheduled to meet with Taliban representatives in Doha, the capital of Qatar, in the Middle East on Monday. The Taliban representatives are scheduled to hold talks with the Chinese foreign minister on Monday and Tuesday, during which a special discussion on the current situation in Afghanistan is likely to take place.
