The Union Roads and Transport Minister has turned a blind eye to Elon Musk's Made in China electric car. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that Tesla will not be allowed to sell Chinese-made electric cars in India. If Tesla wants to sell cars in India, it will have to build in India.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari made a very important statement regarding Tesla's electric car. "I have told Tesla not to sell Chinese-made electric cars in India," Gadkari said at the event. You should manufacture the car in India keeping in view the huge market of India. If the company does so, the Government of India will provide whatever help the company needs.
The Minister of Roads and Transport also gave his opinion on indigenous electric cars. Gadkari said Tata Motors' electric cars are also of good quality. It doesn't look like a Tesla car in any way.
Tesla owner Elon Musk had earlier approached the Indian government to reduce import duty. Gadkari said the government was discussing the matter with the company. It is worth mentioning that about 3 million vehicles are sold in India every year. India is the fifth largest country in the world in terms of vehicle market.
