DRDO and Air Force successfully test indigenous long range bombs


India made its first indigenous long range bomb

New Delhi: The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force on Friday successfully tested an indigenously developed long-range bomb through an air platform.

A statement issued by the DRDO said the long-range bombs fired from Indian Air Force fighter jets accurately killed the target available on long-range land. The DRDO said that all the objectives of the mission were successfully fulfilled in this test.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said the weapon would strengthen the Indian Armed Forces. The defense ministry said in a statement that the bomb's flight and performance were monitored by a range of sensors, including an electro-optical tracking system (EOATS, telemetry and radar) at the Chandipur test site in Odisha.

The LR bomb has been designed and developed by DRDO, Research Center, Imarat, Hyderabad in coordination with other laboratories of DRDO. DRDO Secretary and Head Dr. In his message to his team, Satish Reddy said that the successful test of LR class bombs would prove to be a new milestone in the development of this class of weapons system and indigenous people.
