Delhi Police nab drug syndicate with heroin worth Rs 13 crore

New Delhi: Delhi Police recovered Rs. Delhi Police said on Wednesday that it had busted an international drug syndicate that had been active in the area for some time by nabbing three African nationals with heroin worth Rs 12 crore. Police arrested the syndicate's masterminds, 21-year-old Stanley Chimeiz Alasonye, ​​4-year-old Henry Okoli and 5-year-old Peter Igbonzu, with 1,200kg of heroin.

According to police, the gang had recently become active in Uttam Nagar and Mohan Garden area of ​​the capital. All the three accused had come to India illegally and were living in India without Kopim visa. The banned quantity of drugs was smuggled from Nigeria via Russia to an Indian port with the help of an Indian passport holder, police said.

Dwarka Deputy Commissioner of Police Shankar Chaudhary said that on October 1, police on a tip-off had set a trap in the Mohan Garden area and Okoli and Igbonzu were nabbed with 1 kg of heroin. Both the African nationals came to India from Bangladesh in 2014.

During the police interrogation, they informed that the quantity of the banned drug had come to India from Nigeria via Russia, the police official said. He also said that sometimes the drug was smuggled into India from Bangladesh and Nepal.

The wholesale drug mafia used a virtual number to contact retailers and deliver the drug to where they wanted to go. These African nationals rented two rooms on different floors of a flat in the Mohan Garden area. They lived in the lower room and built a whole drug factory on the top floor. In the factory, they were mixing some substances and chemicals useful in mixing heroin, the police official said.
