Conflict with China: 20 soldiers awarded gallantry awards

Forty Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel were on Sunday honored with police gallantry medals for their bravery in different places during the tensions and violent clashes with China in May-June 2020 in eastern Ladakh. Union Home Minister Nityanand Rai presented medals and certificates during the 30th Rising Day celebrations. The medals were announced on the eve of Independence Day on August 15 this year. An ITBP spokesperson said that eight out of 50 jawans were honored on June 19 last year for their bravery in defending the motherland in Galwan Nalla. Besides, six jawans were honored in the Finger-2 area on May 19 while the remaining six jawans were honored on the same day for adventurous work near Hot Springs in Ladakh.
