Babul Supriyo and Nusrat Jahan have no place in TMC campaigners in Bengal by-elections

Kolkata: Former Union Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) member from the BJP, Babul Supriyo, is not on the ruling party's list of star campaigners for the October 30 four-seat by-elections. Besides, Nusrat Jahan, who turned from an actress to a politician, is also not on the list, as he too is in controversy over his relationship with the BJP leader who turned from an actor to a politician.

Trinamool supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is one of the star campaigners after winning the by-election. The second star campaigner is his nephew Abhishek Banerjee. Other campaigners include Mimi Chakraborty, Dev, Raj Chakraborty and Sayani Ghosh, who went from artist to politician. Apart from this, veteran Trinamool Congress leaders Subrata Mukherjee, Firhad Hakeem, Saugata Roy and Arup Biswas are also star campaigners for the by-elections.

Nusrat Jahan and Babul Supriyo are well known names missing from this list. Jahan actively campaigned in the elections held in March-April this year. Supriyo joined the TMC from the BJP during the Bhawanipur by-election. According to reports, he has requested Mamata Banerjee not to allow him to campaign against his long-time BJP friend Priyanka Tiberwal. Mamata granted his request.

Meanwhile, the list of BJP's star campaigners includes a big head. Among them is Union Minister Smriti Irani. The Chief Minister of Assam is Himanta Biswa Sarma. The MP from Bihar is Giriraj Singh. Within the state, the party has fielded veteran leaders like National Vice President Dilip Ghosh, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Shubhendu Adhikari and BJP Bengal chief Sukant Majumdar.
