Attacks on Hindus by fundamentalists increase in Bangladesh: Suvendu's letter to Modi

Kolkata, Ta. 13
Several pandals and temples were vandalized by fundamentalists on Wednesday during Durga Puja in Bangladesh. The incident has reverberated in West Bengal and politics has heated up there. A Suvendu official from the Trinamool BJP in Bengal has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention in raising the issue of attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari said, "I would like to draw your attention to the demolition of idols in puja pandals during Durga Puja in Bangladesh." In Bangladesh, fundamentalists have repeatedly attacked the Sanatan community. While the procession was going out during Durga Puja, the fundamentalists have demolished the pandals and idols of Durga Puja. The condition of the people of Sanat currently living in Bangladesh is very pitiable.
The official further wrote that many of the people of Sanat in Bangladesh who have been attacked and tortured have crossed the border and settled in West Bengal. I urge you to take immediate and necessary steps in this regard so that the people of Sanat living in Bangladesh can get relief. On the issue, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, "We have received reports of some disturbing incidents of aggression during religious ceremonies in Bangladesh." The Bangladesh government has taken immediate steps to ensure law and order. We are in constant touch with the Government of Bangladesh. Durga Puja programs are going on in Bangladesh, with a lot of cooperation from the government and the people.
