A man named Jagjit Singh, in a complaint lodged with the Tikonia police station, alleged that Ashish, who had reached the spot with 15-20 people in six vehicles, was sitting on the left side of the car and opened fire on the farmers. There the car rolled over the farmers again. A farmer named Govindar Singh died on the spot due to the firing. While three other vehicles swerved and turned over the farmers standing on either side of the road. However, it has been noted in the FIR. The vehicles also overturned when Ashish got out of the motor and hid in a nearby sugarcane field.

The FIR further states that "this was a deliberate conspiracy hatched by the Union Home Minister and his son Ashish."

On the other hand, the family members of Mishra's driver Hariom, who had filed an FIR against him, wrote: "Some rioters among these farmers attacked Hariom with sticks." It was further stated in the FIR that Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya was to attend an event planned by Ajay Mishra. A helipad was constructed for him in the playground of Maharaj Agrasen Inter College. There these farmers rushed.

The peasant agitators were to gather there to protest against some of the provocative statements made by Ajay Mishra. Before that it became a tragedy.
