The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh is building a new university named after Jat king Mahendra Singh. According to Raja Charat Pratap Singh, the grandson of the Jat king, even though it is late, this is the first step to identify Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh. His memory, buried in the pages of history, was forgotten by the whole country as the king formed India's first interim government in Afghanistan. The first graduate of Aligarh Muslim University also forgot the university, the university is built on the land of the king.

Raja Charat Pratap Singh said, "I believe that although it was taken late, but I welcome the recent decision to build a university in the name of Jat Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh. This is the first step enough to identify Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh.

The grandson said he did many good social works during his life. A lot of work has been done in the field of education. He also donated his ancestral home for education. The same place became the first polytechnic in Asia in 1909. He went to Afghanistan and formed India's first interim government in 1915, which was also recognized by 25 countries.

It's a mistake to forget

Raja Charat Pratap Singh said, "I think it was a mistake to forget such a person. Now if Yogi Adityanath has taken a step in this direction and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Aligarh and laying the foundation stone of the university, I think it is a big step to identify him. This is an important step by the Government of India in recognizing the efforts of a freedom fighter.

Regarding the donation of land for the construction of AMU and its connection, grandson Charat Pratap said, "The student life he has and as far as studies at school and college level is concerned, he studied from Aligarh Muslim University. He became the first graduate there. As far as land is concerned the university has become on the land donated by many kings and landlords and our family has been contributing a lot and some land has been donated, some have been purchased. Some lands are running on lease. We have a direct connection to our grandfather and we have land in the campus. '

On the issue of disrespect to Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh at AMU, the grandson said that he had been an alumnus of AMU and was a much talked about student. Now the question AMU should ask is what kind of respect they have with their alumni. But I personally believe that he should have been honored.

It was Jat king Mahendra Pratap Singh who donated his land to open a university in Aligarh but his name is not inscribed in any corner of Aligarh Muslim University. This is why there are so many demands to change the name of AMU. However, now Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is going to build a separate university in his name instead.

Yogi government has decided to create a state level university in the name of Jat Raja in response to Aligarh Muslim University. The state government had promised to set up a new university in Aligarh in 2019 in the name of Raja Mahendra Pratap. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the construction of the university on September 14, 2019 and Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone on September 14.
