Islamabad: A police case has been registered against a radical cleric and others for waving the Taliban flag at a women's madrassa in the Pakistani capital Islamabad. The cleric also threatened the police in the name of the Taliban when the anti-rioting unit and police cordoned off the madrassa.

According to a report in Pakistan's Dawn newspaper, white Taliban flags were seen on the roof of Jamia Hafsa, a women's madrassa in Islamabad. An anti-rioting unit and a team of police from the district administration reached the spot and cordoned off the madrassa.

A complaint has since been lodged against Maulana Abdul Aziz, the headmaster of the madrassa, his associates and some of the students under laws including the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Officials say Maulana Aziz publicly used the name of the Afghan Taliban to threaten police with consequences. Some people in the madrassa also showed off their weapons. So that for a time there was unrest in the atmosphere.
