One more big change in the Punjab Congress before the Assembly elections

New ministers to be sworn in at 4.30 pm on Sunday, CM announces after meeting Congress High Command-Governor

New Delhi: Amid tightening of the Chief Minister's chair in the Punjab government, a cabinet expansion has also been announced. Seven new ministers could be appointed in the new cabinet of Punjab's Charanjit Singh Channy government.

The five ministers in the former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's government may be left out. After meeting the governor, Chief Minister Channy said the new ministers would be sworn in at 4.30 pm on Sunday.

However, before the governor met Channy, he also met the Congress High Command in Delhi to discuss the inclusion of new ministers and the exclusion of old ones. The names of Pragat Singh, Raj Kumar Verka, Gurkirat Singh, Sangat Singh, Amarinder Singh Raj, Kuljit Nagra, Rana Gurjit Singh are under discussion.

While those who were ministers in Amarinder Singh's cabinet, Rana Gurmeet Singh, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Gurpreet Singh and Sundar Sham Arora will be left out. Channy was summoned by the Congress Delhi High Command on Friday. The new cabinet was announced shortly after the visit.

Assembly elections are approaching in Punjab. Currently, there is a tussle between Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu for the Chief Minister's chair. In it, the Central High Command turned the tide of Sidhu and Amarinder Singh by making Channy the Chief Minister. However, the dominance of these two leaders can be seen in the current cabinet expansion.
