Parties including BJP and Congress got Rs 3377 crore from unknown sources in 2019-20

New Delhi: National-level political parties received Rs 3,377.41 crore during the financial year 2019-20 from an undisclosed source, a report has revealed. Which is 70.98 per cent of the total funds received during the same period.

The claim was made by a group called ADR. Political parties have not disclosed who paid the amount at the time of income tax return. The report states that the BJP claimed to have received Rs 2642.63 crore from an unknown source during the financial year 2019-20.

Which is the highest of the total funds received by the national parties. After BJP, the other parties that have received the most donations are Congress, NCP, CPI (M), TMC and BSP.

The BJP received 78.24 per cent of the funds received by all national level parties. While the Congress got Rs 526 crore which is 15.57 per cent. All the parties received a total of Rs 3370 crore from unknown sources during the financial year 2019-20.

This means that no details have been released as to from whom these parties received the donation. During the financial year 2004-05 to 2019-20, the national parties have received a total of Rs 14651.53 crore from unknown sources.

The income from an unknown source is shown in the income tax return but the details of who received it are not given. These donations are those which cost less than Rs. These include electoral bonds, the sale of coupons, relief funds, voluntary donations, donations for fronts or seats, and so on.
