Jignesh to field Dalit voters while Kanhaiya to field OBC voters

New Delhi: CPI and JNU student body leader Kanhaiya Kumar and Gujarat MLA and Dalit leader Jignesh Mewani are likely to join the Congress next week.

Sources in the Congress informed the media about Kanhaiya and Jignesh joining the Congress. Kanhaiya Kumar joined the CPI before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. And contested against Giriraj Singh from Begusarai in Bihar.

Sources close to Kanhaiya Kumar said he is likely to join the Congress in New Delhi on September 28. The sources claimed that Jignesh Mewani was also going to join the Congress with him. The party hopes that Jignesh Mewani's joining the Congress will succeed in attracting Dalit voters. He may be fielded for electioneering in Punjab.
