J-k: Syed Ali Shah Gilani handed over to Khak, internet services shut down in the valley for precaution

Jammu and Kashmir separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Gilani died on Wednesday night. He was cremated at 5:00 a.m. Thursday. The funeral was reportedly held at Haiderpora in Jammu and Kashmir at 5:00 am. Gilani's family wanted him buried at 10:00 a.m. They wanted to invite relatives to the funeral but were not allowed to do so.

Security forces are monitoring the situation in Jammu and Kashmir following the death of Syed Ali Shah Gilani, who led a separatist campaign for more than three decades. Currently, some restrictions have been imposed in the valley, including shutting down internet services. This decision has been taken to prevent the spread of any kind of rumor.

Died at age 92

Syed Ali Shah Gilani was 92 years old. He has 2 sons and 6 daughters in his family. He remarried in 1968 after the death of his first wife. Gilani has been suffering from kidney disease for the last 20 years. He also had some other health problems.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed grief over Gilani's death through his official Twitter handle. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also tweeted that she was saddened by the news of Gilani's death. "Even though we did not agree on most of the things, I respect them for their perseverance and faith," he wrote. Sajjad Lone, chairman of the People's Conference, also expressed grief over Gilani's death.
