Indian companies slapped after attack on Infosys: report

New Delhi, Dt

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Union Minister Piyush Goyal and his ideological ally RSS slammed the country's top two industrial groups, Tata Sons and Infosys, 'indigenous' industrial groups have become intimidated by the central government and their ideological ally, the RSS. In addition, there is internal resentment among Indian companies over the issue, a report said.

Infosys, the country's top IT company, was recently branded "anti-national" by the RSS spokesperson for the same magazine Panchjanya for failing to address the hurdles created in the income tax website. The day after the article was published, the RSS distanced itself from the article, calling it the author's own opinion. However, another union leader justified Infosys' harsh criticism.

Fear has gripped Indian companies as the RSS has taken a hard line on Infosys as 'anti-national'. Just last month, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal lashed out at the ૬ 107 billion Tata Group for criticizing the proposed e-commerce rules, saying indigenous companies should not think only of profit.

Business leaders are worried about the government's and its allies' tough stance on giants like Tata Sons and Infosys. They see such statements as ‘harassment’ of industries. "Everyone in the Indian industry is scared," said an executive working in a global consultancy on condition of anonymity. They do not want to say anything against the government or the RSS.

Defending Infosys, Maruti Suzuki Chairman RC Bhargava said the company has been instrumental in bringing India's software industry to the global stage. The IT website may criticize the problems, but there is no point in calling it a conspiracy to discredit the country and anti-national company like Infosys.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy had questioned the affixing of a picture of Prime Minister Modi on Corona's vaccination certificate. He shared a news report on Thursday tweeting that PM Modi's photo on the Corona vaccine certificate was ridiculous. Did the Ministry of Health get their approval before putting their photo on the certificate? A report has claimed that Indians going abroad are facing problems as there is a picture of PM Modi on the vaccine certificate.
