The incident of Sangamlal Gupta, an MP from Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh, being run over by people on the road has tarnished the image of the Yogi Adityanath government. However, police have registered a case against nine people, including former Congress MP Pramod Tiwari and his daughter Aradhana.

The video has gone viral after BJP SC cell national general secretary Sangamlal Gupta was knocked down on the road and some people were laundered and his clothes torn. The video also shows that when the police intervened and rescued him, people got angry by vandalizing Gupta's car. The CO has been suspended following the incident. An FIR has also been registered against Pramod Tiwari, his daughter Aradhana Mishra and Congress MLA Mona Mishra, but the BJP is outraged.

Sources claimed that former Congress MP Pramod Tiwari was the chief guest at the Sangipur event earlier. Gupta's sudden arrival prompted Tiwari's supporters to lash out at him, declaring him the chief guest. He is of the view that for a BJP MP to be laundered in public under the BJP regime, it is like drowning in a lid for BJP leaders.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said in a tweet that immediate and stern action has been ordered against all those who attacked the BJP MP. BJP MP Sangamlal Gupta was beaten up during a poor welfare fair in Sangipur block of Pratapgarh district. Not a single person involved in the incident will be released.

"Tiwari and his supporters had earlier called me and my activists' hurriyas after seeing me at the site of the Garib Kalyan Mela," Gupta said in his complaint. Later they became violent and attacked me. He beat me and tore my kurto. My security personnel and supporters somehow managed to get me out of there. He then damaged more than a dozen vehicles in my fleet with stones and sticks.
