Mumbai: Criticizing Muslims for welcoming the arrival of the Taliban, Javed Akhtar said there were similarities between the ideology of the Taliban and the RSS as well as other Hindutva groups. Of course, his statement has been opposed by all Hindutva groups as well as Shiv Sena.

Javed Akhtar said that the thinking of all right-wing groups is the same. He compared the activists of RSS, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad with the Taliban. Opposing Akhtar's statement, Shiv Sena has said that RSS believes in nation building. His comparison with the Taliban is not fair.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad Joint Secretary Shriraj Nair criticized Javed Akhtar and asked if Javed Akhtar had ever seen RSS, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists carrying AK-47s with him. Nair said he respects women who believe in Hindutva and does not go from house to house and abduct women like the Taliban. Women who believe in Hinduism do not count as a thing.

Nair said Akhtar criticized the Taliban in a statement but later compared it to Hindutva groups to maintain balance. Criticizing the hypocrisy of Muslim intellectuals, including Akhtar, Nair said such people were opposed to Western civilization but sent their children to study in the West.

It is such pioneers who mislead the Muslim community. They criticize the majority here but they do not have the courage to go and live in Islamic countries like Afghanistan. Nair called Akhtar a hypocrite and a retired businessman who had lost his mental balance.
