Gujarati jailed for 3 years for cheating અમેર 10 million with 4000 Americans

A US court has sentenced an Indian man to three years in prison for his involvement in the Overseas RoboCall scam. Shehzad Khan Pathan, a 40-year-old Ahmedabad resident of Gujarat, has been sentenced for defrauding more than 2,000 Americans of ૧ 10 million.

Pathan was running a call center in Ahmedabad. From this call center, automated RoboCalls were used to call and deceive the citizens of America.

The U.S. Department of Justice said in a statement that after being contacted by phone, Pathan and his associates lured American citizens to transfer money through cash and electronic means.

Pathan and his associates showed a number of lucrative schemes to send money and identified themselves as representatives of law enforcement agencies, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other government agencies. They threatened the victims with various legal and financial consequences.

Acting U.S. Attorney Raj Parekh of the Eastern District of Virginia said the convict was the mastermind of the crime and was sentenced by a call center to five years in prison for defrauding more than 2,000 American citizens.

Of the six accused in the case, Pathan is the fourth accused to be convicted for conspiracy. The other accused in the same case, 21-year-old Pradipsinh Parmar and 3-year-old Sumer Patel, both residents of Ahmedabad, will be sentenced on September 20. Both the accused were working as money couriers
