New Delhi: The former Chancellor of the University's assets worth Rs 19 crore have been seized for cheating thousands of students' parents, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) said in a statement.

According to the ED, the assets seized belong to Madhukar ji Angur, Priyanka M Angur, Ravi Kumar K, Shruti and Pavna Dibbur. The Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) had issued a provisional order to seize these properties.

The assets seized include a bank account, six flats and two plots of land. According to the agency, 4,500 students were forced to deposit money in illegally opened bank accounts, leaving a total of Rs. 107 crore were deposited.

The money was illegally collected in the name of tuition fees, hostel fees and other fees. Madhukar Angur and others embezzled the amount in 2016 and 2017. The agency had filed a case against the former chancellor and his family on the basis of an FIR by the Bengaluru police.
