Five arrested for firing on VHP leader


Jamshedpur: Five people have been arrested for firing on a local Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader. Five people have been arrested for firing on a local VHP leader near a railway room under the Baghbera police station.

Jamshedpur Superintendent of Police Subhash Chandra Jate said five people involved in the incident were arrested on Sunday. The accused fired at Bablukumar Singh on the basis of personal enmity.

Deepak Verma, secretary of VHP's Jamshedpur metropolitan committee, said Singh is the chairman of the VHP Baghbera committee. Singh was injured by a bullet and is undergoing treatment at Tata Main Hospital.

Five to six rounds of fire were fired in the incident, police said, adding that the incident was based on personal enmity created for a piece of government land. Police have seized a pistol and three live cartridges from the apprehended persons.
