Don't test our patience, respect the orders: annoyed with the Supreme Center

Why are the vacancies of tribunals not filled yet?

Close tribunals or appoint ourselves to vacancies but not run this position: Supreme

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday said that the Center was not respecting our order. Our patience is not tested. The apex court made the statement without filling the vacancies of the tribunal.

At the same time, the tribunal also slammed the Center for not passing the Reform Act. The apex court said that there were so many vacancies in the tribunal that the work was stalled. The Center should stop testing our patience and respect our order to fill the posts.

A bench of Chief Justice NV Ramanna, Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice L Nageshwar Rao asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta how many people have been appointed to the tribunal so far. You said some people have been appointed. Where are these appointments ?. Why has the appointment order not been complied with yet?

The bench of the apex court asked why the appointment has not been made as per the order we had given. The government is weakening the tribunal by not making appointments. The situation is such that many tribunals are going to close. We are unhappy with this situation. We now have only three options.

The first option is to block the law, the second option is to close the tribunal and hand over all rights to the court. The third option is to fill the vacancies ourselves. Due to lack of members, work in tribunals like NCLT and NCLAT has come to a standstill. The Center later sought more time from the court.
