Crude prices close to ડો 70 ઃ Petrol prices rise after two months

With the rise in international crude oil prices, the price of a liter of petrol has been hiked by 20 paise and a liter of diesel by 3 paise. Crude prices have risen to close to ડો 70. For the first time in three years, crude prices have reached close to ડો 70.

At the same time, the price of a liter of petrol in Delhi has gone up by Rs 101.8 and a liter of diesel by Rs 7.5. In Mumbai, the price of a liter of petrol has gone up to Rs 102.5 and a liter of diesel to Rs 7.31.

Petrol and diesel prices vary from state to state as VAT rates vary from state to state. In the last two months, petrol prices have been hiked for the first time and diesel for the fourth time.

Crude prices rose for the fifth day in a row in the international market, pushing the price of crude closer to ડો 70. State-owned oil marketing companies Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) today hiked petrol and diesel prices in the country due to rising crude prices.

Diesel prices have been increased four times since September 4. In a four-fold price hike, a liter of diesel has been increased by 3 paise. Earlier, diesel prices were reduced by Rs 1.2 per liter from July 15 to September 4.

Petrol price was last hiked on July 16. From May 4 to July 15, petrol prices were hiked by Rs 11.5 and diesel by Rs 2.15. India has to import 3% of its oil needs.
