Case of attack on Hindu temple in Pak: Proceedings against 85 people started

Lahore: An anti-terrorism court here on Friday began proceedings against 85 accused in the recent attack on a Hingu temple in Pakistan's Punjab province.

Hundreds of fanatical Pakistanis stormed a Ganesh temple in Bhong, a village in Rahimyar Khan district, 590 km from the Punjab capital, on August 4 with sticks, hammers, iron rods and pipes, shovels and spades. The idols of the gods and goddesses installed in the temple were smashed.

He was arrested for allegedly urinating on an 8-year-old boy at a local madrassa but was later released by a court in protest of the attack on a Hindu temple by local fundamentalists. The attackers vandalized the temple to such an extent that the temple wall collapsed, the doors shattered and all the electrical fittings were destroyed.
