As on September 22, net direct tax collection rose 74 per cent to Rs. 5.70 lakh crore

New Delhi: Net personal and corporate tax collection has increased by 74 per cent to Rs 5.70 lakh crore so far in the current financial year. This growth has been seen due to advance tax and TDS payments.

From April 1 to September 22, the net direct tax stood at Rs 5,70,568 crore. 3.27 lakh crore during the same period last fiscal. This is an increase of 74.4 per cent over the previous year, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement.

The financial year 2019-20 has seen a growth of 27 per cent. Net direct collection in 2019-20 was Rs 4.48 lakh crore. From April 1 to September 22, 2021, the gross direct tax collection has been Rs 6.45 lakh crore. Which is 47 per cent more than last year.

Gross direct tax collection stood at Rs 4.39 lakh crore in the same period last year. The gross direct collection so far for the current financial year is 16.75 per cent higher than that for the financial year 2019-20. Gross direct tax collection was Rs 5.53 lakh crore in the same period of 2019-20.

Rs 2.53 lakh crore has been collected through advance tax. While Rs 3.19 lakh crore has been collected due to TDS. Self assessment tax Rs. 41,739 crore, regular assessment tax Rs. 25,558 crore and dividend distribution tax Rs. 4406 crore. So far in the current financial year, Rs 75,111 crore has been paid as refunds.
