Uttarakhand: Complaint lodged against BJP MP Dharmendra Kashyap on indecency issue at Jageshwar Dham

BJP MP Dharmendra Kashyap found it difficult to scold and insult Bhagwan Bhatt, the manager of the temple committee at Jageshwar Dham, as well as the priests. Under Bhagwan Bhatt's complaint, the police have registered an FIR against Dharmendra Kashyap, his accomplice Mohan Rajput and Sushil Agarwal under Section 188 for violating the magistrate's order and Section 504 for defamation. Almora SDM has confirmed this. People staged demonstrations at several places in Kumaon on Sunday in protest of the MP's unrestrained conduct.

Manager Bhagwan Bhatt told Deputy Inspector Kotuli that MP Dharmendra Kashyap along with his two colleagues Mohan Rajput, Sushil Agarwal and four UP police security personnel came to the temple for pujan at 3:30 pm on Saturday, July 31. As per the rules, the main entrance of the temple is closed for the devotees at 6 pm.

Despite repeated reports, MP Kashyap and his associates remained at the temple premises till 6:30 p.m. When the MP and Mohan Rajput who came with him requested him to leave the temple premises, Mohan started arguing and MP Kashyap, who was standing with him, started giving him a break. The MP also used profanity for the priests and the local public. Every devotee is amazed by the rude behavior of the MP and his associates. Kotuli's revenue sub-inspector Gopal Singh Bisht said the three accused would be investigated and action would be taken as per rules.

Priests staged a dharna at Jageshwar Dham

Arriving at Jageshwar Dham on Saturday evening, the priest, annoyed with the rudeness and slander with the temple committee officials, sat on a dharna demanding action against the MP. The priests did not perform any rituals during this time. He said that big steps should be taken to prevent such recurrence in future.

The priests and the people of Jageshwar Dham are outraged by this incident. Priests staged a sit-in at the Jageshwar temple premises from 3 pm to 5 pm on Sunday demanding action against MP Kashyap. He said that if any member of the society arrives at Jageshwar Dham to perform puja, he should perform puja just like ordinary people.
