The old number of former Supreme Court judges was on Pegasus' radar

New Delhi, Dt

Along with the phone numbers of two Supreme Court registry officials, fugitive diamond trader Nirav Modi and Christian Mitchell, the alleged mediator in the Augusta Westland case, the old numbers of the now-retired Supreme Court judge are also on the list of possible targets for Israeli spyware.

A news portal report claims that a mobile number from Rajasthan, registered in the name of former judge Arun Mishra, was included in the database of a possible target in 2016. Judge Arun Mishra retired from the Supreme Court in September 2020 and is now the chairman of the National Human Rights Commission. The report also claims that at some point in 2012, the telephone numbers of two Supreme Court registry officials were included in the secret list. There is clear evidence that some of them were targeted with Pegasus spyware.

The report said that when the numbers of two important officials of the Supreme Court registry were added to the database, they were working in the 'writ' category of the Supreme Court. The list of leaked NSO databases included the phone numbers of several leaders, two Union ministers, several businessmen and at least 20 journalists. However, no one's phone was hacked.
