Delhi High Court orders Maruti Metals to respond to violation within four weeks

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has refused to allow a company to use Amul, a trademark of Gujarat milk producer Amul. He also lashed out at the company, saying that using Amul to sell its products was a violation of trademark law.

The High Court said that Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. By which the Amul trademark is used. The same is being used by a Delhi-based utensil manufacturing company as its trademark which is illegal and inappropriate.

A suit was filed in the High Court by the Milk Marketing Federation in this entire violation case. It was alleged by the lawyer that a Delhi-based company called Maruti Metals was using Amul's trademark to sell its brand. When he did not even register this trademark.

The High Court later directed Maruti Metals to respond to the entire case within four weeks. And said the company had misrepresented the trademark as registered. At first glance, the use of the word Amul by any other entity as a trademark can be seen as a trademark violation.
